Start it

Sourdough refers to both the bread and the starter used to make it. It's a type of bread made with a fermented dough, typically using a "starter" of flour and water that has been allowed to ferment and develop wild yeast and bacteria. This fermentation process gives sourdough its characteristic tangy flavor and chewy texture.

Make it & bake it

There are many, many ways to make a loaf of Sourdough bread. So many methods and techniques, so much conflicting advice online in blogs, books, videos, it's really quite overwhelming and put me off making sourdough for ages. Not to mention that most recipes I saw told me to throw away a portion of my starter on a regular basis!

Eat it

Sourdough bread can be enjoyed in numerous ways, from simply buttered to transformed into elaborate dishes. Freshly baked, it's delicious with butter, or dipped in olive oil and balsamic. It can be toasted for sandwiches like BLTs or grilled cheese, or used in French toast or bread pudding recipes. It's also great with toppings like avocado, hummus, or various jams and cheeses
